How Not To Send Shipment Tracking Numbers

When selling physical goods online, it is always a good idea to send customers shipment tracking numbers as soon as possible. In an order I recently placed at a retailer I won’t name, a funny thing happened where I received the following shipment update email:

Bens Outlet Shipment Tracking Number

As you can see, the software system used to send the tracking numbers has a slight bug in it. Because the number is a long string of numerical digits, the system converted it to scientific notation before sending it. Unfortunately, such a number cannot be used for package tracking purposes, although I found it quite interesting.
